Winter Swimming

Winter swimming offers a unique way to experience the outdoors, reconnect with nature and find a different kind of challenge beyond the warmer months. For some, it’s the exhilaration of entering cold water; for others, it’s the tranquility or the sense of achievement. Unlike traditional open-water swimming, where the focus is often on covering distance or improving performance, winter swimming is defined by the temperature of the water and the body's response to the cold. This brings a different dimension to the experience, one that calls for awareness, preparation and a considered approach to the water.

Winter Swimming

Winter Swimming & Cold Water Immersion Group Coaching

Our Winter Swimming Sessions are designed to help you develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to enjoy cold-water swimming more safely. These sessions focus on the essentials of winter swimming, including preparation before entering the water, understanding cold-water responses, progressive acclimatization, recognizing potential risks and effective rewarming techniques after your swim. Whether you're building confidence in colder conditions or looking to improve your existing winter swimming practice, these sessions combine practical guidance with education to help you make informed decisions, understand your limits and develop safe, sustainable habits. Cold-water swimming should never be underestimated, and learning how to prepare, respond and recover is just as important as the swim itself.

Specialist coaching for swimmers preparing for IISA Ice Mile
Our Ice Mile Specialist Coaching Program is designed for those aspiring to join the select few brave enough to swim a mile in water at 5°C or below. An IISA Ice Mile is an extreme cold-water challenge that demands far more than physical fitness, it requires careful preparation, progressive cold-water acclimatization, mental resilience and a thorough understanding of the risks involved. Through a series of coaching sessions, we build your experience and preparedness progressively, working towards a safe and controlled transition to your planned attempt day. The Ice Mile is a serious undertaking that requires commitment, patience and respect for the cold.
