Group Coaching

Structured group coaching for confident open water swimmers.

These sessions are designed for swimmers ready to develop their open water ability beyond the basics. Whether your goal is endurance, technical improvement, racing, or simply becoming stronger and more capable in open water, this is where real progression begins.

Training is progressive, challenging, and supportive, helping swimmers build the confidence and capability to swim independently, train consistently, and prepare for events or competition if desired.

Suitable for swimmers comfortable swimming longer continuous distances in open water.

Introduction to Open Water

Your first step into open water swimming.

These small-group sessions are designed for swimmers moving from the pool into lakes, rivers, and natural water environments. We focus on building confidence, safety awareness, cold water adaptation, and strong swimming foundations in a calm and supportive setting.

Our coaches remain closely involved throughout, allowing for hands-on support and guidance both in and out of the water.

1:1 Coaching

The fastest and most effective way to improve your swimming.

Our private coaching sessions are fully tailored to you. Whether you’re a complete beginner building confidence in open water, refining technique for endurance swimming, or preparing for triathlon and competition.

Sessions include personalised stroke analysis, technical drills, pacing work, open water skills, and real-time feedback from experienced coaches. Coaches can work both in and out of the water depending on your goals and comfort level.

With fully individual coaching and teacher-trained instructors, progress is quicker, clearer, and built entirely around you.

Casual Swimming

For those ready to make open water swimming part of everyday life.

Rock and River Outdoor Pursuits offer dedicated swimming memberships designed for swimmers who are confident in open water and ready to swim more independently.

Held each morning, casual swim memberships give swimmers the opportunity to start the day in the water before the rest of the world fully wakes.

Open water swimming becomes something different when it becomes routine.
The cold feels familiar. The water feels natural. The mind settles faster. The body adapts.

All new swimmers pay a one-time £10 registration fee and receive a welcome package that includes a Cold Water Method Pink swimming cap to wear during sessions.

All swimmers that reach 25hours swim time are awarded the Cold Water Method Yellow swimming cap and receive 5% off all future sessions.

All Swimmers that reach 100hours swim time are awarded the Cold Water Method Green swimming cap and receive a further 10% off all future sessions.
